This policy explains what information GameUnderground ("we", "the site") collects from visitors, how that information is used, and the choices you have. We have tried to write it in plain language rather than legalese. If anything is unclear, please reach out via the contact page.

1. Who is responsible for your data

GameUnderground is operated by a single independent publisher based in the European Union. For privacy enquiries, data access requests, deletion requests, or complaints, use the contact form or write to the email address shown there. We respond within 30 days.

2. What we collect

We collect only what we need to run the site:

• Account data — if you create an account, we store your email address and any profile information you provide.
• Contact messages — when you use the contact form, your name, email and message are stored so we can reply.
• Visit logs — we log the pages you visit, the referring page, your approximate location (country level), browser type, and timestamp.
• Cookies — small files stored by your browser. See the dedicated cookie policy.
• Advertising data — Google AdSense may set cookies and process device identifiers to show and measure ads. See section 5.

We do not sell personal data, and we do not run our own marketing email lists.

3. Legal basis (GDPR)

• Contract — account creation and authentication.
• Legitimate interest — keeping the site secure, debugging, and basic visit analytics.
• Consent — non-essential cookies and personalised advertising, where applicable.

4. Processors we rely on

Some data is processed by third parties acting on our behalf:

• Lovable Cloud / Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage hosting.
• Cloudflare — content delivery and DDoS protection.
• Google AdSense — display advertising.
• Google Search Console — indexing reports for our public pages.

5. Advertising

We use Google AdSense to show display ads on a subset of our content pages. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site or other sites. You can opt out of personalised advertising at any time via Google Ads Settings or industry-wide via youronlinechoices.com.

Ads are never shown on authentication, account, or admin screens; only on real content pages such as the library, game detail pages, and articles.

6. Affiliate links

Some outbound links — for example to NordVPN — are affiliate links. If you sign up after following one of them, we may receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. This never affects the price you pay and never influences which games we list.

7. How long we keep data

• Account data — until you delete your account.
• Contact messages — up to 24 months for support history, then deleted.
• Visit logs — up to 12 months in aggregate form.
• Advertising cookies — controlled by Google's own retention policies.

8. Your rights

Under the GDPR and equivalent laws you can request to:

• Access a copy of the data we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate data.
• Delete your account and associated data.
• Restrict or object to certain processing.
• Lodge a complaint with your national data-protection authority.

9. Children

The site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from them.

10. Changes

We may update this policy as the site evolves. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the latest revision; material changes will be highlighted on the homepage for at least a week.
